Our Solution
We started by defining the data volume requirements and understanding the needs of the analysts who would be using the tool. It became clear that the company needed to process large files in CSV and Excel formats and connect directly to relational databases such as MS SQL and PostgreSQL. We chose a desktop application approach using C# WPF (or Electron for cross-platform compatibility), ensuring smooth performance with large datasets through optimized queries and internal caching. Next, we developed a visualization module, allowing users to create charts, graphs, and heat maps, apply real-time filters, adjust the analysis period, and select key performance indicators. Since the application deals with sensitive financial data, we prioritized security by implementing on-disk encryption using .NET Crypto API. Additionally, we introduced role-based access control, ensuring that users can only view data segments authorized for their role. The final enhancement was support for exporting reports in PDF and Excel formats, allowing top management to easily share results with colleagues or store them in archives.
